The short version

• Everything happens on your iPhone. Veil detects and redacts personal information entirely on your device.
• We never see your documents. They are not uploaded to us or anyone else, and we cannot access them.
• No account, no tracking, no ads. Veil does not require sign-up and does not sell or share your data.
• You're in control. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device.

This Privacy Policy explains how Veil ("Veil," "the app," "we," "us") handles information when you use it. Veil is designed around a simple principle: your documents are yours, and they should stay that way. We built the app so that your private information never has to leave your device.

Information We Do Not Collect

Veil does not collect, transmit, or store your documents or their contents on any server. All document import, text recognition, detection of personal information, and redaction are performed locally on your device.

We do not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, or any other identifying information to use the app. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not use third-party tracking or advertising SDKs.

Information Stored on Your Device

To do its job, Veil keeps certain data only on your device, protected by your device's security and encryption:

• Your documents and redacted copies, held in the app's encrypted local storage (your "vault").
• Your "Always redact" terms — words or values you ask Veil to always remove. These are matched on-device and stored encrypted.
• Your settings and preferences, such as which detection categories are enabled.

This information is never transmitted to us. It remains under your control and is removed when you delete the corresponding document or uninstall the app.

Device Permissions

Veil may ask for the following permissions, used only for the stated purpose and only when you choose the relevant action:

• Camera — to capture a photo of a letter, form, or page you want to review. Images are processed on-device.
